Virginia Tech tragedy and anti-depressants

Newstarget has an opinion today about this tragedy and the fact that the shooter was reported to have been on anti-depressants: www.newstarget.com/021798.html . I am not sure what I think of this opinion. I believe that there are times when PERHAPS a person may need to be on anti-depressants FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME.
I am not a fan of pharmaceuticals,...I think there are too many that are harmful AND that there is a pyramid scheme of sorts with some in the medical community and 'Big Pharma'.
At any rate, I know that there are some good things being done in medicine today and I continue to work for a large medical center here at home. I look forward to the day when I can work Waiora full time at home.
As a parent of 2 children who will be leaving for college before too long, my heart is with those who have lost so much in this tragedy.
Blessings;

Hey there

I haven't posted anything in over a month. Alot has happened, and we've been a little bit 'stretched'. My mother passed away February 9. While I have known for about 3 years now that my mother could die suddenly, I was not ready. I don't know that you ever really could be ready for something like this. I am thankful that my mother is not suffering any more and that she is at peace. I truly believe that, and I think that is what has helped me deal with this and the other things going on in my family right now. I have a sister-in-law who is battling cancer and a brother-in-law who suffered a small brain hemorrhage when he was struck by a line drive while pitching batting practice for his high school baseball team.
Needless to say, I have been praying alot. I am thankful for my husband and daughters and all the ways in which we are blessed. I worry about my dad, who is now left behind, and how to best care for him. I know that all the answers will come at the right time. I continue to pray for wisdom. I hope all is well with everyone out there.

Groundhog day and the Super Bowl

Well now, the groundhog, Stanley, or whatever his name is, DID NOT see his shadow,...SO, Spring is a-comin' and Winter be endin'!! OK, I always say I'll believe it when I see it. Here in Oklahoma-land, we have had a really cold winter; I am not sure that I believe it's over.
On to subject 2:
How about them Colts?
I thought it was a messy, clumsy, but overall good game. I'm happy for the Colts. I thought Chicago's success would depend on how Grossman played, and it did. I thought he was not sharp at all. I am impressed about how the Colts ran the football, and their play calling. Although, I must admit that I and my husband both thought Indy was getting way too conservative after halftime.
Congrats to Peyton for winning the big one;

Whiny kids

I am finally proven right.
Whiny kids are just flat out harmful to your health. Not only is your 'crap tolerance' stretched, NOW we know that those of us with kids eat less healthy than those without. The reason: (As per the author of the story):"Too many adults are whipped into foolish dietary practices by their children. They need to stop giving in to whining children influenced by television advertising and start making informed nutritional choices for the whole family," Adams said. "Children will eat healthy food if you stop buying the processed junk food. It's all a matter of standing your ground on issues of health and nutrition."
Let's also talk parenting: Stand your ground and be consistent!
Here's the article:www.newstarget.com/020967.html
Have a great day contemplating your dietary future and the whiny response you will get with any and every attempt to eat healthier!! Dare to be Great!!

Fiber to treat cholesterol

Here is an article about Big Pharmaceuticals and the false claims they make. I alluded to this in one of my first postings. I wish they were held accountable for their deceptions. Here's the link: www.newstarget.com/021526.html

Super Bowl

Well, the Super Bowl is around the corner, and I am so tired of all the hype. DOn't get me wrong, I LOVE football and I think this will be a great game. I am torn about who to cheer for. I think it is Indianapolis' time, though, so Indy it is.
I will probably watch some of the game on 'mute' though,...the commercials are just not as good as they once were, and the commentators do way too much talking,...I guess that's why they are called commentators??
It's groundhog day. Did he see it or not?

Fiber to lower Cholesterol

My favorite website, Newstarget.com, has a great article about using fiber to lower Cholesterol. DUH! Good article, though. Makes me glad to be with Waiora. Our Superior Fiber Blend is second to none in lowering Cholesterol, and that is not the only benefit, by far. Here's the article: www.newstarget.com/021523.html

They have found mercury hotspots in several areas of the Catskills. The article is linked below. We are surrounded by toxins. My question is: How will YOU fight it?
Answer: By using NCD. IF you visit www.humanoctane.com., it will tell you all about it and why I think this company is ready to go vertical SOONER rather than later.
Check out the Catskills article: ( I had trouble linking to this article, so here it is)

Catskills contaminated with mercury
Studies link coal-fired factories to pollution in 2 N.Y. mountain ranges
By Kathy Fallon Lambert
For the Poughkeepsie Journal

January 14, 2007

New research has identified as many as 14 biological mercury "hotspots" in northeastern North America and suggests that contamination in wildlife is linked to pollution from coal-fired industry.

The hotspots are areas where wildlife has excessive levels of contamination. One known hotspot occurs in the Adirondack Mountains, and another is suspected in the Catskills.

In humans, mercury can damage brain development, learning and neurological functioning, especially on developing fetuses and children. The effects documented in wildlife are similar.

The two studies were coordinated by the Hubbard Brook Research Foundation and are featured in the January issue of the peer-reviewed scientific journal BioScience.

The 11-scientist Hubbard Brook team used more than 7,300 observations to quantify mercury levels in fish, birds and other wildlife at lakes and reservoirs from New York to Nova Scotia. The results go a long way toward confirming earlier results that used computer models to predict the location of hotspots.

Mercury, a naturally occurring element, is released into the atmosphere when power plants or other industrial facilities burn coal. The largest sources of mercury in New York are Hudson Valley cement plants.

Fish are a main source of exposure

After mercury rains down and is converted into a toxic form, people and wildlife are exposed primarily from eating contaminated fish. Last year, New York expanded advisories warning the public against eating many species of wild fish throughout the entire Catskill and Adirondack re-gions — the most pristine wilderness areas of the state. Forty-three other states also warn residents against eating fish from certain waters.

"We were surprised to find that the Adirondack Mountains of New York had some of the highest mercury levels in fish and loons in the northeastern United States," said Charles Driscoll, a lead author of one of the studies, and a professor of environmental systems engineering at Syracuse University.

The average mercury levels in yellow perch were more than twice the Environmental Protection Agency's human health criterion. Blood mercury levels in 25 percent of central Adirondack loons, which eat fish, exceeded wildlife health thresholds. Catskill fish and songbirds also had excessive levels of mercury, but too few sites have been sampled to confirm the region as a "hotspot."

The scientists found that decades of acid rain have made the Adirondacks and Catskills sensitive to mercury pollution.

"The Adirondack and Catskills are getting a double-whammy from emission sources such as coal-fired power plants," Driscoll said.

The studies also found mercury deposition is five times higher at a New Hampshire hotspot near a coal plant, indicating the Environmental Protection Agency's "cap-and-trade" mercury regulation may fail to reduce the harm from some plants.

The Environmental Protection Agency's strategy for curtailing mercury pollution is to restrict the total amount of mercury emitted by all plants, but allow heavier polluters the option of purchasing credits from plants that reduce their emissions. This strategy will reduce the overall load of mercury entering the environment, but would allow for continued or increased emissions at specific plants.

"Our modeling results support a growing body of evidence that a significant fraction of the mercury emitted from coal-fired power plants in the U.S. is deposited in the area surrounding the plants," said Thomas Holsen, professor of civil and environmental engineering at Clarkson University and a co-author of the studies.

Many states — including New York — have adopted rules rejecting the federal plan to allow the trading of mercury emissions, and call for steeper and faster reductions.

Those laws should result in a cleaner environment. The scientists found that mercury levels in fish and wildlife can decline relatively quickly when emissions decline — a new finding for the Northeast.

"There is still a lot that we don't understand about mercury, but it is clear that biological mercury hotspots occur and that mercury emissions from sources in the U.S., as opposed to China and other countries overseas, are the leading cause," Driscoll said. "Mercury emissions will have to be reduced substantially from current levels if we are to see recovery in sensitive watersheds in the Northeast."

Kathy Fallon Lambert is a co-author of the mercury hotspot studies. Environment Editor Dan Shapley contributed to this report.

Arsenic and Old Lace

I couldn't resist. I just checked e-mail and I had received a press release from Environmental Working group, about a recent EPA ruling that EWG helped champion.
Seems that there are toxic amounts of Arsenic in treated lumber, like the playsets, decks, etc. that children frequent. Now that the EPA has gotten on it, we'll see what happens.
Anyway, Arsenic made me think of the Play and Movie starring Cary Grant: 'Arsenic and old Lace'. Good classic stuff.

Network Marketing

I was talking with a business associate and revisited this excellent article.
It is worth reading if you are considering network marketing OR if you are one of those who has vowed NEVER to consider network marketing. Kudos to Vicki Latham for an excellent article:
HARVARD BUSINESS SCHOOL
Network Marketing Criteria
Network Marketing is being taught at more than 200 colleges including Harvard Business School. After extensive research into the network marketing industry, Harvard Business School developed three criteria that a network marketing company must have in order to make it a most desirable opportunity. They are:
1. The company must be at least 18 months old, as 90% of all network marketing companies that fail, do so in the first 18 months.
2. The company must have a product which is both unique and highly consumable. Being unique in this case means that you have an exclusive product that can only be purchased from your company’s distributors. Having a product that is highly consumable means repeated sales, thereby guaranteeing customer loyalty versus a one time sale and having to locate new customers.
3. It needs to be a "ground floor" opportunity. Harvard Business School suggests that in order for the opportunity to qualify as a ground floor type, the number of existing distributorships should be less than of 1% in the country where this network company exists. In the United States, this figure is equal to 1.5 million people. Harvard Business School also stated that if there were less than 500,000 people involved, you would be on the cutting edge of a great opportunity. If the company has less than 100,000 distributors, Harvard Business School considers it to be a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Harvard Business School states that there are four distinct stages of growth in a network marketing company. They are:
1. Foundation - This usually lasts approximately six months. This is when a company develops its products and marketing plan.
2. Concentration - This period lasts approximately 2 to 4 years from when the distributor network is started.
3. Momentum - This period lasts from 2 to 4 years also. This is when the company experiences phenomenal growth. Both retail and distributorships explode in terms of expanding growth. It is during this period that the company virtually sweeps the nation. When a company’s sales reach 50 million, they reach what is called "critical mass" (sales go vertical right off the graph). Also, approximately 2/3 of the company's growth of the new distributorships occurs during this period of time.
For example: When Herbalife reached 50 million in sales, they jumped to 151 million in retail sales in only 12 months. They also added over 800,000 distributorships in their organization. Let us assume you have an organization which is producing an override bonus check to you of $1000 per month. When the company reaches critical mass, distributors automatically experience a ten-fold increase in their earnings. In other words, $1000 per month becomes $10,000 per month. This is the reason for getting involved on the ground floor, so you will experience the benefits of explosive growth.
4. Stability - This period lasts for the life of the company. A network marketing company that is dedicated to the success of its distributors will experience longevity, thereby insuring that an active distributorship will realize continued earnings and growth.

Reading this...do you realize that you are at the right place at the right time with the Waiora opportunity!!!
Waiora is a company that is 24 months old. Growth in the past 8 months is over 1,400% And the company is debt free!!
The owners have an outstanding reputation for integrity in the industry. They have years of experience, and success in Networking, and know what it is like to be a distributor themselves. Therefore, they have created the most lucrative marketing program in the industry.
There are less than 25,000 Waiora distributors...truly a ground floor opportunity of a lifetime.
Natural Cellular Defense is a unique, one of a kind product. Nothing else does what it does. No one else has it, and it is protected by a patent so no one else can market it for at least another 16 years (that is how long is left on the patent).
They are committed to having a small amount of products that will be the finest products available, made out of the best ingredients, which will be science-based, and well researched.
And Waiora is dedicated to growth, not just locally but world wide...and is continuing to create a global company. They will be opening a new market in Australia in September, in addition to already having established markets in Canada, Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
There is only one way that you will not be successful in Waiora....Quit.
There is only one way to assure that you will be successful in Waiora...Never Give Up!
I hope this will inspire you to realize the potential you have with Waiora!!
Have a Great Day!

Mickey Dillon in Tulsa

Waiora Diamond leader Mickey Dillon was in Tulsa, Thursday night at the 81st and Lewis Hilton. Mickey always has a great presentation, and Thursday night was no exception. He shared that Waiora is going to be on the edge of an incredible opportunity! Mickey stated that the next 12 to 18 months will be critical for Waiora and that the time for greatest exposure will happen then. We have time to 'Tune up' and 'Tune in', and get busy!
It all starts with asking yourself this question:
Do I love my job?
If your answer is 'no',--Get out of the trap of hating your job; do work you love AND get paid well; fire your boss; tune up your mind to earn more money and finally, surround yourself with people whose positive example you can follow.

FTC gets after those bad natural product companies that claim to have weight loss supplements

All the while ignoring, routinely, the outrageous claims pharmaceutical companies make about their products. Look for yourself,...this is pretty good money for a day's work. www.newstarget.com/021403.html

Waiting for Cancer treatments

I was catching up on my e-mail, and noticed my daily Newstarget.com e-update. Here's an interesting article. People afflicted with cancer spent alot of time WAITING for treatments, etc. Here 's that article: www.newstarget.com/021400.html
Wouldn't it be nice NOT to wait? There is something out there,...take a look at this: click on 'View US Patent'. If you want to simplify your reading, look at pages 1 & 11. www.zeoliteinfo.com
We are not talking about a 'cancer treatment',...we are talking about something that has helped alot of people as a supplement AND as a nutritional component of cancer treatments.

Mrs. Munster

Yvonne DeCarlo died just a day or two ago. It's interesting how she is remembered as Mrs. Munster, and yet, she'd had quite a movie career. In fact, I remember a movie she was in with Clark Cable, that I liked: 'Band of Angels'(1957). It makes me think of the legacies we leave. I think she did alot of really good movie work, but will be remembered mainly as the wife of Herman Munster. Ironic.

Politics

I really don't like to discuss politics and promise to not do so here. I've heard it said that Religion and Politics are the two things you should NEVER discuss, and I know that this is absolutely true.
I just really have those who are presently in harm's way on my heart today. I have a brother-in-law and a very dear friend serving in Iraq right now. My prayers are constant that they will be safe and return home quickly.
Regardless of your political beliefs, please continue to pray for our troops.

Business - Waiora

If you'd like to see something interesting regarding our business, visit: www.humanoctane.com
I just learned that Waiora had a tremendous year. We were started in April 2004 and our sales for that year totaled $1,000,000.00. Sales in 2005 totaled $7,000.000.00 and our 2006 numbers are: $37,000,000.00. ---I believe that is GROWTH!
This year will be nothing short of phenominal for those who work this business. Period.

Startin' fresh. General comments

OK. I have posted my first ever blog comment so now I am ready to go!!
The National Championship in College Football was played Monday and I have to say I was really surprised! I honestly thought that Ohio State would clean Florida's clock, but NOOOOOOOOOO! The game was actually pretty much decided by halftime, I think. I mean, the way Florida's defense was playing was AMAZING!! They limited Ohio State to a record LOW in yardage this year, if I heard the commentators correctly. Really amazing game. I think the two biggest bowl game surprises to me were Ohio State vs. Florida and, of course, Oklahome vs. Boise State. I think that the games where the hype was the worst were the ones that ended up being surprises, like to two I just mentioned. I mean, I have never heard so much hype as when Barry Switzer AND Jimmy Johnson were talking incessantly about OU being the 'big boys' and Boise State being the 'little boys'. So, what happens? The little boys give the big boys a black eye and send 'em packing!!
Now on to the pros and whatever happened to Dallas Sunday night??? I can't even write about it, I am still so in shock at how they lost.

Welcome in review

( revised 11/15/06)

Blogger’s Welcome:

Thanks for visiting this brand new site. Welcome to the blog for Live Better For You, and our flagship business: WAIORA. Home base is Tulsa, Oklahoma and our vision is to positively impact people and their health, ALL OVER THE WORLD.

We hope you find this blog informative, thought-provoking and, with general discussions about almost anything and everything: FUN

Here goes:

1. Think of business success and growth for a moment. NOW, think of your own home business.

When you hear about a company that has experienced 1300% growth in the last 13 months, you should automatically think: “Here is a company that is having tremendous success and growth”. You would be absolutely correct, and you WOULD NOT be dreaming. THAT company is Waiora, and YOUR opportunity to be a part of such growth is NOW. Add proven leadership, debt-free and profitable status to that, and you have unlimited potential. See: www.Livebetterforyou.com for more information. NOTE: 'Livebetterforyou' is still under construction, bear with us.

2. What is being viewed by some in the nutrition world as ‘a revolution on Life
Science?’ Answer: From Newstarget.com: "Epigenetic factors" such as diet and chemical toxins are now being understood as the controlling factors of genetic expression. This means DNA is not the master plan for health. It also means that genes don't automatically manifest disease (except in rare cases) and that we can control our health outcomes through nutrition and avoidance of chemical pollutants. For more, see this link: www.newstarget.com/021083.html
Blogger’s note: I really like Newstarget.com. If you are interested in nutrition, visit it.

3. I love sports, PERIOD. Doesn’t much matter what kind, I’m in and will watch
more or less anything, …SO, my beginning question is: “ Is it just me, or is
the officiating in Collegiate football just really awful this year?” Look at the recent loss OU had from Oregon. I mean, I am not an OU fan, even being an Okie, but I do think ‘they was robbed!!’

If you are like me and not a real OU fan, look at the other really stinking calls teams have gotten this year. It’s almost an epidemic, I think, BUT being female, I could just be too emotional?? BTW: There are some of us ladies who truly LOVE sports. Really. I can tell you who won the first Heisman trophy. I also remember when Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was Lew Alcindor.

4. I love old movies. Give me a classic movie on digital cable and I am a happy woman.
‘On the waterfront’ is going to be on our digital cable ‘Encore’ channels in
December. If you can find it, wherever you are, on digital cable or otherwise, watch it. Marlon Brando is outstanding. This is when he is young and not quite as ‘fruity’?? Maybe he was just always misunderstood.
Anyway, great movie where someone does the right thing and takes a stand against corruption. It makes me think of why I believe in Waiora. Bear with me now, I’ll bring it together: I think that there is some corruption of truth when we talk about nutrition and health. Being a health professional, I am torn at times, because I think we focus on Illness way too much and not enough on prevention and wellness. Maybe it’s just me, but I think people ought to be given the opportunity to use proven Natural products to treat or prevent further diseases and conditions.
Case in point:
Why prescribe a ‘statin’ that is proven to stress the liver and potentially
cause bad side effects, when you could control cholesterol as well with fiber, fish oil, and plant sterols? The research is out there, folks. The American College of Cardiology recommends diet and nutrition therapies as ‘first line’ for lowering cholesterol. For those of you who might be on a ‘statin’, let me ask you:
When you saw your doctor and he told you that you had to get your cholesterol lowered, did he tell you about any natural products that work to do this? He may have talked about diet, but did he tell you what I just mentioned about fiber, fish oil and plant sterols? Please know that this is not a diatribe against doctors,
but it is making a point: The medical community needs to stop relying on pharmaceutical companies so much and more on the research out there proving the worth of many natural products. Waiora is a company with proven products that lower cholesterol, along with many other benefits.
**Just wonderin’ if the medical community ‘en masse’ will ever ‘get it’.

5. This may bug you,… but then again, maybe not.
AMA sides with beverage association against tax on sugary sodas:

Are we enabling?

Welcome in review

It has taken much longer than I planned to get this thing up and running, but here it is.
